Tenterden & District Museum
About
WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR WINTER. WE RE-OPEN ON APRIL 1st 2025. Tenterden Museum is a volunteer-run local history museum situated in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Housed in a 19th century listed building, typical of the region, our six rooms chart the town's development from its earliest settlement to the modern day. Displays focus on the town's position as a cinque port, its agricultural, architectural and cultural heritage, and changing exhibitions highlight objects and areas of special interest. The museum also houses the Tenterden Motorcycle Club collection and the Tenterden Local History Society reference library. Our small gift shop has a range of local souvenirs and our book shop offers an unrivalled selection of local history titles and works by local authors. The museum is accessible (step free access and stairlift to first floor) and we offer an audio guide as well as interactive display screens. Guided tours can be booked via our website.
