Barafundle Beach
About
Barafundle Beach lies on the remote coast of Pembrokeshire in Wales, forming part of the beautiful National Trust‑owned Stackpole Estate. The shoreline is a sandy crescent framed by dramatic cliffs, offering visitors a pristine and undisturbed seaside experience. Access is via the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the most common route coming from Stackpole Quay—a 0.5‑mile walk that winds through woodland and along the coastal escarpment. Parking at Stackpole Quay is available for a fee of £7 per day from March to October, with free parking after 5:30 p.m., reflecting the beach’s popular summer usage. The path to the beach is steep and uneven, making it unsuitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, but provides a rewarding walk for those seeking a quiet retreat. The beach’s natural beauty has earned it international acclaim: it was listed among the world’s top 12 beaches in 2004, crowned Britain’s best beach by the Good Holiday Guide, and celebrated as a premier picnic spot by Country Life. In 2019 it received both Seaside and Green Coast awards in the Wales Coast Awards, cementing its status as a treasured coastal destination.
