About

The Bateman Arms was built c.1750 by Sir James Bateman (Lord Mayor Of London) as a building where his Estate workers would collect on pay day. Over the years it became a staging post for weary Drovers to refresh themselves as they walked livestock from West Wales to markets in Birmingham and London. Today, Abbi Court and her team provide a warm welcome to both locals and the many business and leisure visitors who travel to the Marches throughout the year. With the rural splendour of Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Mid Wales on the doorstep, there's plenty to discover! With award winning chef Thomas Tudor creating unique and imaginative dishes, based around the central ethos of local and sustainable produce.
