About

Burton Constable Hall is a magnificent Elizabethan country house set in 350 acres of Capability Brown‑designed parkland on the outskirts of Hull, East Yorkshire. For more than 700 years it has been the seat of the historic Constable family, and today it operates as a museum and visitor attraction. Inside the Hall you will find a vast collection of art, furniture and curiosities that span eight centuries, including the notable Hall of a Stuart‑era Great Hall, a Long Gallery filled with framed portraits, a Chinese Room inspired by the Brighton Pavilion, and various period rooms such as the Blue Drawing Room and the French Bedroom. Outside, the stunning parkland is dotted with a rare sperm‑whale skeleton, a Vimble lun‑shaped lake, and the bustling Stables Kitchen and gift shop. The hub is friendly for families, school groups and history enthusiasts, offering guided tours, educational visits and special events throughout the year. The Hall is open every day from 11 am to 4 pm (closed on Mondays except on Bank or School holidays) between 5 April and 2 November, with the same hours during the Christmas period from 22 November to 21 December. The Stables Kitchen and gift shop remain open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. A minimum of two hours is recommended for a standard visit. For those that wish to explore further, an Annual Membership offers free unlimited admission, early‑bird tickets to selected events, and discounts in the gift shop. The site welcomes large groups, offers educational visits, and provides accessibility information for visitors with disabilities. Frequently held events span exhibitions, talks, and family‑friendly workshops, making Burton Constable a year‑round cultural highlight.
