Bircham Windmill, a striking Grade II listed tower mill in the heart of Norfolk, offers visitors a chance to step back in time and climb its five floors to discover the machinery that once powered the rural landscape. The windmill, restored in the 1980s, has been undergoing further renovations to preserve its historic character, and visitors can explore the museum’s displays of windmill tools, a model of the last miller, and interactive educational activities for children. Adjacent to the windmill is a charming bakery that still operates with its original coal-fired oven, offering freshly baked bread, cakes, and a range of speciality flours. The tea rooms, and gift shop also provide a welcoming spot for refreshments, with free entry for the tea rooms and many family‑friendly amenities such as guided tours and animal encounters on the grounds. Admission is modest, with daily adult tickets at £7.25 and children (4‑15) at £5.00, while retired visitors and families pay £5.85 and £22.00 respectively. In addition to daily tickets, season passes are available for £18 (adults), £12.50 (children), £14.60 (retired) and £55 (families), and the site accepts bookings for the mill climb on the day of visit via a simple phone reservation.
