About

Hazlefield House is a charming, grade B listed, Georgian House set in approximately four acres of gardens and grounds, the main part dating from 1835 but with some older parts from around 1750. Situated in the "Stewartry", one of the most scenic parts of Galloway, and from its elevated position, Hazlefield House has outstanding views across rolling farmland and the Solway Firth to the Lake District Hills. A wide panorama of hills can be seen in clear weather, from Skiddaw in the North East, through the Buttermere Fells in the centre of Scafell range in the South West. Hazlefield House stands in peaceful mature garden grounds with fine trees and shrubs, affording guests great shelter and privacy. To the south, there are magnificent views over the terraced lawn and Solway Firth to the distant Lakeland peaks. The wooded grounds and sweeping lawn provide an ideal setting for a quiet getaway. Although the present building dates to the early 1800s, there has been a house on the site of Hazlefield for over 450 years. There is a tradition that when Mary, Queen of Scots fled from Scotland in 1568 she spent her last night on Scottish soil at a farmhouse known as ‘Hazlefield’. At Hazlefield House Country House Bed and Breakfast, we have two rooms available. Both rooms are situated on the first floor and Solway has a flight of stairs down to the bathroom. Please note, our property is exclusively for adults only and our standard occupancy doesn't allow for additional children. All guests older than 18 are welcome. Each room has been carefully prepared to ensure our guests have everything they need during their stay.
