The Marton Arms
About
Established in the 16th Century, The Marton Arms is an independently owned traditional coaching Inn located in the secluded hamlet of Thornton in Lonsdale within the beautiful landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Inside you will find a warm welcome, traditional cask ales and fine wines, delicious seasonal British cooking, roaring log fires, and cosy bedrooms. In the summer months, the log fires give way to our picturesque beer garden and relaxed courtyard dining, both overlooking the charming Norman Church of St Oswald’s where Sherlock Holmes author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was married in 1885 followed by a wedding reception at the Marton Arms…of course! Explore the spectacular Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and all 2,700 feet of the Yorkshire Three Peaks accessible on foot directly from our front door. The Marton Arms really is the perfect base to explore the Lakes and Dales or simply enjoy a few nights peaceful relaxation with some fine hospitality and beautiful scenery.
