Abbey House Museum
About
Abbey House Museum invites visitors to step back into Leeds’ Victorian past within a lovingly recreated 19th‑century street that blends authentic storefronts, a tea‑room and a soap‑factory. The museum’s permanent displays – from childhood galleries to enamelwork – are framed by oversized replicas of period‑specific items, allowing guests to touch and play with toys and household goods of over a century ago. Situated along Abbey Walk in Kirkstall, the museum lies just a block from the historic Kirkstall Abbey Visitor Centre, making for an ideal family outing or school field trip. Admission is paid on a per‑person basis: adults £7.15, children 3‑18 years £3.50, and a family pack (up to two adults and three children) £15.75. Free entry is granted to refugees, asylum seekers and several community groups, reflecting the museum’s commitment to public accessibility. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 – Saturday from 12:00 to 17:00 – with last admission 30 minutes before closing. A free car park is available beside the museum and additional free parking at the visitor centre. For enquiries, call 0113 378 4079 or email abbey.house@leeds.gov.uk.
