Lotherton
About
Lotherton Hall is a stunning Edwardian country house set within eight acres of meticulously landscaped gardens and a wildlife world zoo. The estate opened to the public in 1969 after the Gascoigne family gifted it to the City of Leeds. Visitors can wander into the historic hall, whose Georgian and Victorian architecture houses a notable Gascoigne silver and fine art collection, and then explore the award‑winning gardens – from a traditional walled garden to woodland trails, an orchard and a red deer herd. The 12th‑century Norman chapel offers a quiet place of reflection. Seasonal events such as the Christmas Experience and summer adventure parks provide family‑friendly fun, while dedicated learning workshops cater to school groups and international visitors. With free admission to the main attractions, Lotherton offers a holistic experience of history, nature and horticulture.
