The Kettleby Cross, J D Wetherspoon pub in Melton Mowbray originally opened in September 2007. Due to a fire in October 2010, the pub had to be rebulit and restructured as it had been largely destroyed. The pub reopened in May 2011 and is the first J D Wetherspoon ecological pub containing state of the art equipment that is aimed at reducing energy consumption; e.g. a wind turbine on the roof of the pub that can be seen for miles. J D Wetherspoon is a pub company that has over 850 establishments and began in 1979. Melton Mowbray is a town famous for its stilton cheese and pork pie and is a lovely, touristic place with many events occuring throughout the year.
