The Torbay Inn
About
It is possible to trace the technique of hot stone cooking back to 400BC when the Monggolians used to cook on stones heated in fires. We haven't been using them as long as that but we have been working with them long enough to know how you can get the very best enjoyment out of the experience! Firstly and most importantly you will be cooking on a very hot superheated stone over 300 degrees so do not touch the stone! Even after you have finished your meal it will still be too hot to touch. Your choice of meal will be instantly cooking in front of you and all you need to do is cut it up as if it were on a normal plate. If you like your meat rare keep it whole and cut one or two bite-sized pieces off at a time. If you prefer well done then cut your food up as soon as it arrives. When you order please let us know how you like it and we will prepare your meal accordingly. The meat will be seared on the stone prior to bringing it to the table. However you like your food you can start eating straight away. There is no need to wait for it all to be cooked before you can start enjoying it. This is not a labour of love - the stone does all the work for you - that's the beauty of Dragon Stone cooking! We hope you enjoy this unique experience!
