Docklands Light Railway
About
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system that stitches together London’s East London and Docklands region, linking the historic City of London with the modern financial hub of Canary Wharf, as well as transit to London City Airport, the Greenwich Peninsula, and the rural outskirts of Beckton and Woolwich. Launched in 1987 and operated by Keolis‑Amey Docklands on behalf of Transport for London, the DLR offers high‑frequency, driverless service that runs nearly 24/7 across 45 stations and 38 km of track. Its unique light‑rail design allows the network to utilise former rail corridors, elevate passenger corridors, and provide step‑free access at every station, making it both efficient and inclusive. The DLR’s reputation for reliability, safety, and connectivity has earned it a stellar rating of 4.5 from travelers, reflecting its status as a vital artery for commuters, tourists, and business professionals alike.
