Freemasons' Hall
About
Freemasons’ Hall at 60 Great Queen Street in central London is the iconic headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England and the world’s oldest Masonic lodge. The Art Deco building, erected 1927‑1933, sits between Holborn and Covent Garden and has become a celebrated London landmark, frequently used as a film and television location. Inside, the glittering Grand Temple—capable of seating 1,700—boasts a mosaic‑cove ceiling, a large pipe organ, and intricate symbolic carvings that reflect Masonic traditions. A free‑entry Museum of Freemasonry occupies the upper galleries, offering visitors an extensive collection of ceremonial artifacts, portraits, and manuscripts that chronicle the fraternity’s rich history. Daily, up to five free guided tours depart from the library and museum, giving the public an intimate look at the Hall’s historical rooms and the Grand Temple, provided visitors bring photographic ID. The Hall is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and remains accessible year‑round.
