The Ginstitute is London’s premier gin‑education experience located in the beautifully restored Portobello Water Distillery on iconic Portobello Road. In just under three hours guests explore the colourful, often blustery history of gin – from its 17th‑century medicinal origins and the gin craze that swept London to its modern renaissance as the soul of contemporary cocktails – before moving from the classroom to the still. Guided by an experienced Ginstructor, each participant selects botanicals, noses them, and crafts a bespoke blend that is bottled on the spot. The session culminates with a signature cocktail, and attendees leave with a bottle of their personal gin and a recipe card for future runs. The experience runs only on Saturdays and Sundays, with two half‑day sessions (12:00‑2:30 pm and 3:00‑5:30 pm), and participation must be booked in advance. In the UK, it is £120 per person and guests must be 18 +. This unique blend of history, science and craft makes The Ginstitute the most immersive and hands‑on gin experience in London.
