Bromley is home to many well-known figures, and this pub has them on display. This is named after Richmal Crompton, the author best known for her ‘William’ books. William Brown first appeared in a series of short stories, written in Richmal’s spare time, while she was a teacher at Bromley High School for Girls. She lived in Bromley for 26 years, first in Cherry Orchard Road and later in nearby Oakley Road.
