Southwold Lighthouse
About
Southwold Lighthouse offers visitors a unique blend of maritime history and panoramic scenery. Built in 1890 and still operational, the 31‑metre beacon snaps its 113‑step spiral staircase to the sea, landing guests at a viewing platform renowned for sweeping views of the North Sea, town and countryside. Tours – a one‑hour adventure – begin at the Adnams Tours Centre in The Swan Courtyard, Market Place, and combine guided narration of Trinity House history, practical sailing stories and a health & safety briefing. Participants receive a 10% discount voucher for Adnams shops, and can book privately or as part of a sunrise tour for up to twelve guests. The experience is suitable for those over 1.1 m tall and able to ascend stairs unaided, but is not recommended for people with mobility restrictions or severe vertigo.
