Bewl Water
About
Bewl Water is the largest body of inland water in Southeast England, straddling the boundary between Kent and East Sussex near Lamberhurst. Created between 1973 and 1975, the reservoir covers roughly 800 acres (3.2 km²) and supplies water to Southern Water’s customers. The park’s natural setting within the South Weald area makes it a popular hub for outdoor recreation – from sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing and paddleboarding to trout fishing and kayaking. A 12.5‑mile Round Reservoir Route offers extensive walking and cycling paths, while the on‑site outdoor centre provides equipment hire and activity guidance. Open all year, the park provides free admission and a tranquil escape for families, nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.
