About

Granada Studios, originally built in 1954‑1962 and located on Quay Street in Manchester, served as the flagship television studio complex for Granada Television for more than five decades. The site was home to culturally significant programmes such as *Coronation Street*, *University Challenge* and the Beatles’ first televised performance, cementing its place in British broadcasting history. After a brief period of closure in 2013, the complex was sold to Allied London and Manchester City Council, refurbished, and re‑opened in 2018 as All Studios – a mixed‑use creative hub that now accommodates film and television production, live performance venues and community events. Despite its rich heritage, the site is no longer a commercial tourist attraction and is primarily used for production work. The building’s post‑war design by Ralph Tubbs and its iconic Granada TV sign (now removed) remain notable architectural features, showcasing a distinctive industrial aesthetic that continues to influence Manchester’s urban landscape.
