Sigiriya
About
Our incredible food comes in many varieties of colours and flavours. We blend hot Sri Lankan spices with cloves, cardamoms, nutmegs, and peppers which are found in abundance throughout Kandy and Matale Districts of the central region of Sri Lanka. ‘Rice and curry’ are a staple diet for the Sri Lankan people, but the word ‘curry’ is used to describe a multitude of dishes. These can include soups, meats, sea food, lentils, vegetables, sambols, mallums (sauted vegetables), phies (dry style vegetables) and achcharus (pickle). Furthermore, the basis for some of our delicious desserts include curd, treacle, sweet meats, rice flour, palm treacle and jiggery accompanied by a variety of fruits. It is very easy to find several juicy sweetmeats like Kavum, kokis, Halape, Thalaguli and Wattalapam in Sri Lanka. At Sigiriya restaurant, it is important for us to pay homage to its namesake, the iconic rocky outcrop, through our food and culture.
