About
The Mitre Hotel, an 18‑century establishment originally built as The Old Church Tavern in 1815, has been a landmark in Manchester’s historic Cathedral Quarter for over two centuries. Today it sits on the western side of Shambles Square, overlooking the cathedral and the pedestrianised market street, and retains much of its original period charm despite modern refurbishments of its restaurant and bar in 2018. The hotel’s storied past includes a 1745 visit by Prince Charles Edward Stuart and it continues to welcome guests seeking a blend of heritage, central location and contemporary comforts.
