Your tour starts with a short film show in a 150 year old Victorian Railway Tunnel before heading off into purpose built Air Raid Precaution tunnels under the town of Ramsgate. Hear about the “Mad Mayor” who saved the town. Discover how the tunnels were built. See where a town below the town evolved. Listen to stories of life underground. Please ensure you check our web site for tour times before travelling as these do change throughout the year and we strongly advise you to pre book to ensure you can get onto your chosen tour. We are dependant on volunteers to run tours, on very rare occasions we may have to cancel tours at short notice. Due to the uneven and occasionally rough nature of the tunnel floor, sensible shoes should be worn for the ½ mile underground tour, with warm clothing strongly encouraged as the temperature remains at a constant 11ºc. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. There are no public toilets on site but public toilets are within a few minutes walk.
