Wonderfully cosy, The Lantern Inn free-house, circa 1610, has lost nothing of its sense of history or atmosphere during a stylish restoration. There are two accommodation options: The Lantern Apartment: A secret hideaway consisting of a two bedroom apartment, lavishly furnished with soft velvet, leather and full of Indian rugs in a Victorian boudoir homage, soft lighting, antiques and oil paintings abound. The Mongolian Yurt: Cosy and snug. Situated behind a picket fence within the garden, warm furnishings and a fire to sit around and immerse yourself in. Throw rugs cover the floor and a cushioned area to lounge on. The inn is located a half-mile from Martin Mill, a handy stop on the high-speed St Pancras to Deal rail line. Serving a seasonal menu using local produce, local beers and wines. Found on a quiet, rural road in the tiny village of Martin, five miles equidistant between the seaside town of Deal, with its award-winning high street, and Dover’s historic Castle.
