About
Tynemouth Aquarium, located on the picturesque Long Sands beach in Tynemouth, offers visitors a diverse underwater world ranging from local sea life to exotic tropical species. The 500,000‑litre main aquarium showcases sharks, octopus, reef fish and seals housed in the purpose‑built Seal Cove. The newest exhibit, River Giants, brings giant freshwater fish to life, while the Seal Hospital, where rescued seals recover before release, highlights conservation efforts. Guests can also enjoy a Bay‑and‑Laurel restaurant with panoramic views, a gift shop, and interactive talks and feeds that run throughout the day.
