Small friendly local pub specialising in real ale and real cider, and of course, locally sourced food (P.B. George Butchers and St Benedict's Food Store). We offer between 4 and 7 smaller dishes, perfect for lunch or an accompaniment to an extended visit for drinks with friends, usually priced between £5 and £7. Usually 4 main courses between £8 and £10 (slightly higher prices only for really special or complex dishes). We usually have at least 2 vegetarian smaller dishes and one main, however if you have special dietary requirements it's much better to phone up in advance and speak to a chef. Since all our food is prepared freshly (we receive several deliveries from the butcher and grocer each week), large parties of 8 or more would be well advised to book in advance and we are always happy to email menus out on the morning of the booking and occasionally take pre-orders or special requests depending on scale and complexity as we have have quite a small kitchen. Bar opening hours: Monday-Saturday 12 noon - 11pm Sunday 12 noon - 10:30pm Kitchen service hours: Wednesday-Friday 12 noon-3pm and 6pm-9pm Saturday 12 noon - 9pm Sunday 12 noon - 8pm We serve a very popular Sunday Roast each week, only one meat option per week (pork, beef or lamb) since we roast the meat overnight and match vegetables, gravy and homemade side-sauce to whichever meat we are serving that particular week. As advertised above, Sunday hours are all day however we cannot guarantee when the roast dinners run out and generally will not take bookings for later than 3pm unless the customer is happy to take a chance on which meals will be available.
