Set beside the Erewash canal with views over the River Trent and River Soar, theTea Room specialises in good old fashioned cooking.The house dates from 1794 and features many items relating to the canals and local life - almost a museum there is so much to look at, bringing back memories for many and discovery for others. The Ashby family offer a warm welcome and a menu to delight visitors. There is a choice of over 60 different teas and a selection of speciality coffees. Choose from Cornish Clotted Cream Teas, hot toasties, tripe and onions, jacket potatoes, rabbit stew and various salads to name but a few as well as the famous prawn tea. Relish the knickerbocker glory - reputedly the largest for miles around. In Summer, the Victorian style ice cream cart offers a variety of unusual ice cream flavours - many of them homemade. Locally there are lots of walks and cycle routes for those with a passion for exercise and those who just prefer a little saunter.
