About

The Priory Church of St Mary and St Hardulph, Breedon on the Hill has stood on the hill above Breedon since c.675AD and is home to one of the largest and finest collections of Anglo-Saxon sculpture in the country. Situated within an Iron Age hillfort, it was also an Augustinian priory and has several 16th and 17th-century monuments constructed by the Shirley family. Within the graveyard are many slate gravestones which include the victim of the last nobleman hung for murder. You are warmly invited to explore this historic place and enjoy its surroundings.
