The Thorn Tree Ripley
About
Situated in the heart of the beautiful and historic Derbyshire market town of Ripley, The Thorn Tree is a recently acquired traditional English pub that focuses on quality national and local cask ale, fine wine and community. Ripley is another Derbyshire town whose past is steeped in industry. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Ripelie, and is situated about 9 miles outside the city of Derby. Close by the market place, and the pub, stands the Church of All Saints. There is a railway museum close to the town, the Midland Railway Centre, which has working steam trains and various displays that include model railways. Situated on the market place the pub attracts a wide range of custom from market traders and shopkeepers to shoppers, businessmen and students. The selection of cask ales offers a range of permanent favourites such as Sharps Doom Bar from Cornwall, the award-winning Harvest Pale from Nottingham's own Castle Rock Brewery and a selection of three ales from quirky and local microbrewery Blue Monkey. The new wine list will offer a mix of great value house wines as well as more premium and better quality wines as it is introduced late-summer 2014. A new weekly quiz night is in the pipeline and the pub offers free unlimited broadband WiFi. A food menu is being planned for late-summer 2014
