The Red Lion
About
The Red Lion in Blewbury is a historic English pub that has welcomed locals and visitors for over two centuries. The main floor is a cosy beer garden with a dedicated patio, complemented by a very popular Ukrainian‑style Kitchen‑in‑the‑Garden called the Lionsden Kitchen, where the menu changes daily to feature traditional pub fare alongside a rotating selection of authentic Ukrainian dishes. During the week the lunch menu runs from 12:30 to 15:00, with an extra late‑afternoon slot from 18:00 to 20:30 on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Sundays are reserved for a hearty roast lunch from 12:00 to 16:00. All day the pub serves a range of cask ales, lagers, and wines, as well as occasional live music in the herb‑filled garden. The Red Lion also hosts a variety of events, from film afternoons in the cosy “Katie’s Corner” every Wednesday to quiz nights, a monthly open‑mic, and the eagerly awaited Ukrainian Christmas Dinner every year which costs £45 per person for a twelve‑dish traditional supper. In addition to the pub experience, the property offers four privately‑furnished bedrooms and a Bedouin‑style tent for guests who wish to stay overnight and enjoy the rural setting. The venue is dog‑friendly, with a spacious garden and play area for pets, making it an ideal stop for families and travellers who want a relaxed atmosphere and a taste of local history. Whether you’re after a quick pint, a traditional Sunday roast, a lively event, or a comfortable place to sleep, The Red Lion balances heritage, hospitality, and a unique culinary twist to give every visitor a memorable experience.
