Ferry Meadows in Nene Park
About
Ferry Meadows, part of Peterborough’s expansive Nene Park, is a celebrated country park that welcomes families, walkers, and adventure‑seekers alike. Spanning over three and a half miles along the River Nene, the park boasts three lakes that host sailing, kayaking and windsurfing lessons, a watersports centre, and a pedalo and rowing boat hire shop. Children delight in three dedicated play areas, a miniature railway, and occasional pony rides, while the scenic Overton Lake offers two cafés: Lakeside Kitchen & Bar and Ferry Meadows Café. The park’s Visitor Centre, situated near the Nene Valley Railway station, provides information, gift shop items, and a venue for events. With its abundant woodlands, floodplain meadows and nature reserves, Ferry Meadows is an ideal spot for picnics, bird‑watching and leisurely strolls, making it one of the city’s favourite green escapes.
