About

The Wooldown is an area of open space in East Looe. It is a beautiful piece of open countryside - an area of fields and hedgerows that has been miraculously preserved within the town. Situated high above East Looe’s town centre, it commands wonderful vistas over the sea, the coast and St.George’s Island. It is treasured by the local community as a wonderful place to walk, explore and to sit. It remains much as it was when farmland was secured for the enjoyment of the people of Looe. The fields and hedgerows are now being managed to encourage biodiversity. Working with Kernow Ecology, a local conservation consultancy, East Looe Town Trust has established two bee glades above the SW Coast Path, and a wild flower meadow in the Observatory field. Looe's beacon is on the crown of the hill and lit to mark national celebrations. Dog friendly and litter free'
