About

Spanning the River Stour in the historic market town of Blandford Forum, the Mortain suspension bridge was opened in April 2000. The bridge was installed in only 3 days as part of the popular 'Challenge Anneka' television series. The bridge is a popular place from which to see otters, swabs and even kingfishers. Lovers enjoy 'sealing their love' by placing a padlock on the railings of the bridge. The bridge is named after, and in honour of, Blandford Forum's twin town 'Mortain' in Normandy, France.
