The Isle Of Skye Baking Company
About
Welcome to The Isle of Skye Baking Company, a cherished culinary haven tucked inside the historic Old Woolen Mill on Dunvegan Road in Portree, Isle of Skye. Founded in 2007 by Barry and Liza Hawthorne, the bakery has evolved from a humble shortbread shop into a vibrant purveyor of breads, shortbread, oatcakes, preserves, and bespoke baked goods. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., where visitors can sample freshly baked treats, assemble custom packed lunches, and enjoy a selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten‑free options. The bakery also serves packed lunches to touring groups and encourages advance booking for bus‑tour teams. Overlooking the scenic harbor, the old mill houses the Skyeworks Gallery, offering a quiet spot for coffee and conversation.
