The George & Dragon has recently been taken over by new management, and is now being run as a quaint boutique country house hotel . The Hotel Is set in picturesque countryside 7 miles from Basingstoke ,close to Newbury and Winchester as well as being near to London and Oxford. It has a rich history having once been under the trustee of Winston Churchill and the Duke of Wellington . It was sold to one of the Dam buster pilots during the war ! We have Superior double , Classic double and Twin rooms that all look out onto a courtyard patio, and come with flat-screen TV ,private bathroom Tea and Coffee ,shower or bath or both ,free toiletries & wifi. We have an extensive A la carte menu for lunch and dinner, and we serve a full English breakfast daily. Guests can make the most of the lovely 2.5 acre gardens There is also plenty of space for parking. A truly traditional1590 hotel free house, we also offer a good range of cask ales, quality home cooked food, served in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Accomodation is in a couple of converted barns.around the courtyard , allowing you to park your car close to the room . The property is close to, Baughurst and Tadley and not far from the M3 and M4 so easy to get about .
