Located in the small market town of Rhayader (gateway to the Elan Valley - the Lakelands of Wales)in Mid Wales, there has been an hotel on this site accommodating travellers for many centuries. Run by the Collard family since 1907, a warm welcome is always guaranteed at the Lion Royal. This hotel remains a very special and unique place, it is an unspoilt traditional Welsh Coaching Inn. Come and relax... Far from the madding crowd The hotel has fifteen well-appointed rooms, which enjoy generous en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath. The rooms are vintage with a modern twist. There is a choice of twin-bedded, double & family rooms. The Restaurant/Dinning Room serving traditional home made food and Afternoon teas can be booked at anytime. We boast Great Bars with log burners that toast your toes and a very old snug bar dating back to early 1900. Motor Bike Trail Riding breaks throughout the year and can offer you experienced and excellent guides. We have a drying room on site and large covered Garage and courtyard. The Lion Royal Pony Trekking Centre is open from May to September we cater for all abilities of rider from novice to experienced we have stables in the courtyard. Many other outdoor pursuits such as cycling, fishing, hill walking, bird watching & golfing can all be enjoyed in the nearby Elan Valley. The area caters for all pastimes and interests, in large parties if required, and with ample parking, a large covered garage in the court-yard of the Hotel, we can assure you of the security of all your vehicles, two or four wheeled or four legged. The Function rooms and Dinning rooms are all available and can cater for up to 120 and many more for Buffets or Dinners Dances Ideal for: Business meetings, Conferences, Wedding Receptions, Funeral teas, Dinner-Dances,Disco or Family Parties Whatever your requirements we are happy to help.
