Theakston Brewery
About
T&R Theakston Ltd, founded in 1827, is a living piece of Yorkshire heritage located in the market town of Masham. The brewery still preserves its original Black Bull pub heritage and boasts one of the few working cooperages in the United Kingdom, where oak casks are handcrafted for the flagship Old Peculier ale. Visitors can explore the full brewing process on guided tours, learn about the family’s six‑generation history, and taste fresh beer in the historic taproom. The complex also houses a visitor centre with information displays and a gift shop offering a range of Theakston merchandise. With its combination of industrial heritage, traditional craft, and quality ale, the brewery is a must‑visit destination for beer lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
