Lochranza Distillery
About
Arran Distillery sits on the northern coast of Scotland’s Isle of Arran, in the village of Lochranza. Founded in 1995 by former Chivas director Harold Currie, the distillery operates two head‑cheek wash stills and two spirit stills, producing an annual output of 750,000 litres of single‑malt and blended whiskies. The visitor centre is open seven days a week and hosts guided tours, whisky tastings and a cask‑purchase scheme that lets enthusiasts own a private cask of the ageing spirit. In addition to its flagship single‑malt, Arran offers the award‑winning Robert Burns series and a range of blended whiskies, all distilled from barley grown on the island. A unique feature of the distillery’s history is the student of golden eagles that nested on a nearby cliff during construction, a wildlife stewardship story that adds to the island’s allure. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur, a family looking for a relaxed day out, or a visitor eager to explore Scottish whisky culture, Arran Distillery offers an immersive experience set against the rugged backdrop of Arran’s coastline.
