About
Bateman’s, the 17th‑century Jacobean home of Rudyard Kipling, is set on 33 acres of the Sussex Weald. The house is preserved as it was when Kipling lived there, complete with his study and the rooms that inspired classics such as The Jungle Book. Visitors wander through formal gardens, a working 18th‑century watermill, a natural play area and the Mulberry Tea‑Room, then browse the Oast House shop and a second‑hand bookshop for Kipling books and local crafts. The National Trust offers free entry for members and a range of ticket options for visitors of all ages.
