Robin Hood's Bay and Fylingdales Museum
About
Robin Hood's Bay and Fylingdales Museum is a small, volunteer‑run heritage site tucked into the historic Coroner's Room and mortuary on Fisherhead in the heart of Robin Hood's Bay. The museum preserves the coastal village’s rich maritime and smuggling history through three compact rooms filled with authentic artefacts, models, and photographs. Visitors can explore the old Coroner's Room's fishing and shipping displays, the smuggling exhibits that detail the lives of local smugglers, and the mortuary's ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’ theme, showcasing over seven centuries of village life. Entry is free, making it an ideal stop for families, history enthusiasts, or anyone interested in North Yorkshire’s coastal legacy. Open daily from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm when volunteers are available, the museum offers a quiet, educational experience for a short walk among its self‑contained displays.
