Millhouses Park
About
Millhouses Park is a 31.8‑acre green oasis located just south‑west of Sheffield city centre on Abbeydale Road South (A621). Open every day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the park offers a wealth of attractions for families, nature lovers and athletes alike. Visitors can stroll the winding riverbank paths, enjoy tranquil boating on the lake, play in the multi‑purpose sports pitches and tee off at the crown‑green bowling area, or explore the sensory garden and formal gardens. A recreation centre with an indoor skate park, an outdoor gym and a splash‑waterplay area added in the recent Splash! upgrade bring fun for all ages. The park is fully accessible, with level entrances at several points and a dedicated fish pass that allows trout to bypass the weirs along the River Sheaf. Free parking is available at both ends of the park, and you can also use the nearby Save‑and‑Display car parks or park for free on Abbeydale Road South. All toilets, a café and an ice‑cream kiosk (a private business) are located within the park, and the Friends of Millhouses Park volunteers organize regular events such as bird‑walking, parkruns, pickleball, skate jam competitions and gardening days. The park remains free to the public and is a perfect spot for family outings, picnics, dog‑walking or a leisurely stroll with a picnic blanket on the riverbank.
