About
Wells & Walsingham Light Railway is a 10+1/4‑inch (260 mm) heritage railway that crisscrosses the picturesque Norfolk countryside, linking the seaside town of Wells‑next‑the‑Sea with the pilgrimage town of Walsingham. The four‑mile (6.4 km) line runs along the former Wymondham‑to‑Wells branch, offering gently‑gradied climbs, charming station stops and the thrill of steam‑powered locomotives such as the iconic Norfolk Hero. Daily services operate from March to November, with an intensified timetable during the high season. Visitors can enjoy a half‑hour journey in the company of historic carriages, steam whistles and the natural beauty of North Norfolk – a quintessential experience for rail enthusiasts, families and lovers of rural Britain.
