About
The River & Rowing Museum, which was located in Mill Meadows in Henley‑on‑Thames, was a landmark destination that celebrated the River Thames, rowing, and the town’s heritage. Designed by architect David Chipperfield and opened in 1998, it showcased the town’s life through galleries, a permanent Wind in the Willows walk‑through, and the UK‑only John Piper gallery. The museum also featured a noteworthy 1698 Jan Siberechts oil painting of Henley. Unfortunately, the museum closed permanently in 2025 and is no longer open to visitors.
