HMS Alliance Submarine
About
The Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport proudly displays HMS Alliance, the sole surviving Amphion‑class submarine built for the Royal Navy during the final phase of World II. Launched in July 1945 and commissioned in May 1947, the vessel served as an experimental platform and later as a static training boat before being decommissioned in 1973. Since 1981 it has been open to the public as a memorial, offering visitors a rare opportunity to walk aboard a historical submarine that played a key role in mid‑20th‑century naval warfare. Inside, guided tours reveal the cramped interior, the original torpedo tubes, and a wealth of artifacts that chronicle the life of submariners during wartime and post‑war reforms.
