Jolly Sailor
About
The Jolly Sailor at Ashlett creek is a traditional British pub. Serving fresh food and cold drinks come rain or shine! Set down by the waters edge of Ashlett creek, a small harbour looking over Southampton water the Jolly Sailor has been serving happy customers for over 170 years. First licensed in 1849 the pub has been transformed over the years from a 'beer house' , smugglers inn and now to a welcoming place to have a quiet drink or freshly made meal. During the summer months its a lovely place to sit with a cold drink, have a go at crabbing or dip your feet in the water off the quay. Our free public slipway is the perfect place to launch paddle boards, kayaks or other small water craft. We have a thriving boating community and there is always something happening on the water. When the nights draw in and the weather turns wintery the open fire and cozy atmosphere make it the perfect safe haven for a freshly made hot meal.
