A few miles outside Winchester, in the village of Owslebury, the Ship Inn is a 17th century boutique country pub, with extensive gardens overlooking the South Downs equipped with play area and pétanque pitch. Popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders, the pub is the heart of a village founded in the reign of Edgar the Peaceful. Enjoy an ale in front of the fire in the dog-friend, wood-beamed Old Bar, and high-calibre dining in the restaurant. A good resting place for those on the Pilgrims Trail which passes close by.
