Bodinnick Ferry
About
The Bodinnick Ferry is a convenient car and foot ferry that links the town of Fowey with the village of Bodinnick on the opposite bank of the River Fowey. Operated by C Toms & Son Ltd, the ferry can carry up to fifteen cars and a mix of pedestrians, bikes and light vehicles in a continuous service that departs every ten to fifteen minutes during operating hours. It is a vital access point for walkers heading to the scenic Hall Walk and is also popular with tourists seeking a brief, picturesque river crossing. While the service runs year‑round, it is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day (although a limited passenger service operates on those two days) and is suspended on New Year’s Day. The slipway is located next to the Caffa Mill Car Park in Fowey, and the ferry operator’s office sits on East Street in Polruan‑by‑Fowey. A typical crossing takes only a few minutes, making the ferry an ideal shortcut for both locals and visitors exploring south‑east Cornwall.
