The museum was founded in 1972 and it is now is now a fully accredited museum and a registered charity, which is run entirely by volunteers. During the summer season the museum organise weekly guided Heritage Walks around Lostwithiel. No prior booking is needed for these regular walks, which last about 90 minutes.
