Alton Towers Waterpark
About
The Alton Towers Waterpark, formerly Cariba Creek, opened in 2003 alongside the Splash Landings Hotel and has grown into one of the UK’s most popular family‑friendly destinations. Set on a tropical Caribbean lagoon theme, the park combines seven pools—both indoor and outdoor—with an array of 10 thrilling water slides, lazy river, and interactive play areas. Its iconic centerpiece, the Master Blaster water coaster, delivers high‑speed drops and twists that wow adrenaline‑seekers while the tranquil Lazy River (Calypso Creek) offers a serene glide for travelers of all ages. Families will appreciate the dedicated Little Leak paddling pool for the youngest guests, as well as the whimsical Wacky Waterworks treehouse that encourages playful splashing. The Tipping Bucket, a seven‑metre water‑filled container that regularly turns over, adds a splash‑filled spectacle just in front of the main entrance. Each attraction is carefully spaced to maintain a relaxed atmosphere even during peak season. The park’s layout is designed to keep visitors moving comfortably between attractions, with shaded walkways, plenty of seating, and easy access to a selection of food and drink venues—including the Adventure Cave and Ice Cream Shack—each offering quick, tasty refreshment for energetic families. For a full day of fun, aim for Saturday or Sunday during the summer months, when operating hours stretch from early morning until evening and all slides are in full swing. Arriving early in the morning allows you to beat the crowds and enjoy the lively Caribbean ambiance before the afternoon rush.
