About
West Kennet Long Barrow is one of Britain’s largest and most impressive Neolithic chambered tombs, dating back to around 3650 BC. The site – part of the Avebury World Heritage Site – offers free admission and is open any reasonable time during daylight hours, making it a perfect, low‑cost destination for history lovers and casual walkers alike. Visitors can enjoy a short half‑mile uphill stroll from the A4 lay‑by, or start their exploration at the nearby Alexander Keiller Museum, which features displays on the six English Heritage sites in Avebury.
