The mausoleum is the final resting place of Lachlan Macquarie, his second wife Elizabeth and their children, Lachlan and Jane. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE - Vehicles must be left beside the main road and not driven down the private track. The walk to the Mausoleum is approximately 700m on level ground. The track passes through three gates and two private gardens with free range poultry . Please respect the privacy of the residents and keep dogs on leads. The mausoleum is owned by the people of New South Wales through the National Trust of Australia (New South Wales) and managed on its behalf by the National Trust for Scotland.
