The Birdcage Bed & Breakfast is ideal for couples and singles to use as a base whilst exploring the beauty that is Torquay, named the English Riviera due to its strong sunlight and magnificent coastline. We are superbly situated within a short walk from the sea front, the harbour, marina, town centre, the English Riviera Conference Centre, restaurants, bars and night clubs. Also we have excellent public transport nearby including Torquay and Torre train stations. Torquay - A Beach Holiday and So Much More. The English Riviera may be most famous for its Award Winning beaches and exotic palm trees but it has much more to offer than just seaside holidays. The English Riviera has more attractions than any other resort in the UK and is also a Global Geopark. Getting out on the water is what our visitors love to do and there is a selection of boat trips and tasty local food and fresh fish to enjoy. Torquay is the birthplace of crime writer Agatha Christie and the whole resort is the location for a packed programme of all year events and festivals including the annual Agatha Christie Festival. Torquay is where people come to holiday from either the rest of the UK or abroad. The unique position of Torquay within the lay of the bay and the wild barren hills of Dartmoor (National Park) gives it a micro climate that provides much warmer weather for longer than the other parts of the UK. This attracts the very essence of the French Riviera lifestyle with its cafe culture and lazy days around the harbours and marinas until late into the evening. A truly wonderful place to visit. The Birdcage was recently fully refurbished to a very high standard and all the rooms are supplied with complimentary toiletries, fluffy white towels, bathrobes and slippers.
